Our Central Region SBTDC staff is highly qualified with a wealth of experience and knowledge dedicated to serving the needs of small- and mid-sized businesses. The following is a list of our management and staff ready and willing to serve you.

TBA - Regional Director

 

Sandra Conaway - Assistant Director
Sandra Conaway, Director of Finance & Administration and Assistant Director of the MD Central Region Small Business & Technical Development Center has been with the program since it was housed under the Department of Economic and Employment Development in the early 1990s.  She brings over 20 years of knowledge in business and management. She manages the overall administrative operations of the organization including: budgeting, grant management, business planning, human resource management and is a management liaison for the Regional Director.  She is considered the glue that holds the region together.

 

Prior to her role as Assistant Director, Sandra provided a vast array of technical assistance services to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the Central Region when she was the office manager. She takes pride in helping entrepreneurs realize their dream of business ownership and encouraging them to remain competitive in a complex, ever-changing global marketplace creating wealth and job opportunities.

 

In recognition to her years of service and dedication to the SBTDC, Sandra was awarded the Maryland State Star for 2008 and was honored at the ASBDC conference in Chicago, IL. She serves on the Central Region Advisory Board as an advocate to develop a cooperative and supportive system for small businesses on issues impacting the local small business community. Sandra is always, eager and willing to share her knowledge, inspire excellence, and champion a compelling vision for the mission of the MD Small Business Technology and Development program.

 

Andrew Kreinik - Sr Business Consultant, International Trade Specialist

Andrew Kreinik is a Senior Business Consultant that specializes in strategic growth and international trade at the Small Business Technology and Development Center (SBTDC) based at the University of Maryland Baltimore. He is a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP). Founder and/or owner of three companies, Andrew built a worldwide network of distributors for his manufacturing firm. He is an alumna of the Thunderbird School of International Management with an MBA in International Business. Andrew speaks three languages and has lived in four countries. His expertise is shared with Maryland Small and Medium Enterprises through the SBTDC Export Assistance Program.

 

Craig Panos - Sr. Business Consultant, Technology Commercialization Specialist (Howard County)

Craig Panos has been a business counselor with the SBTDC since 2007. In the 25 years prior to his joining the SBTDC, Craig held management and executive positions in the technology, real estate and database marketing industries - most recently as Director of Operations and Chief Financial Officer of Owings Mills-based Noospherics Technologies, Inc. As a multi-national business owner himself since 1981, and having been involved with small business operations since the age of 15, Craig has watched many businesses succeed and has been a high-impact team player in many success stories. He is a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP), and holds a B.A. degree from Western Maryland College and an MBA from the Cornell University Johnson School of Management.

 

Hollis Minor - Sr. Business Consultant (Anne Arundel County)

A seasoned business solutions provider, Hollis Minor has owned four businesses prior to joining SBTDC and brings hands-on experience to her new role. Her most recent business, The Minor Group, is a successful Annapolis-based business consulting firm.

A resident of Annapolis for over 40 years, Hollis has a diverse range of experience creating organizational development, public relations, and communications initiatives for privately held firms and for not-for-profit organizations, including many public entities. Her breadth of business development skills includes international marketing, public outreach campaigns, and distribution models for a wide variety of products and services. Further, Hollis' expertise extends to implementing and managing public relations campaigns and expertly conducting tactical plans in the areas of media relations, coalition building, event staging, media kits, exhibits, presentations, videos, websites and more.

A member of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, the Annapolis Economic Affairs Advisory Commission and the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, Hollis continues her active community business involvement. Hollis is a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP). She is also a graduate of the University of Maryland- College Park, where she obtained a B.S. in Business Administration.

Gabe Omaru - Business Consultant, New Venture Specialist

Gabe Omaru brings a wide-range expertise in his role as the Office Manager for the Central Region SBTDC responsible for maintaining client’s relations, office management, support to the marketing department, and database monitoring for compliance.

 

Gabe joined the SBTDC network in 2012. Prior to that, he worked in the private sector as a customer relations specialist and as a mid-level manager within the hospitality industry.  Gabe also worked in the nonprofit sector including advocacy work with the International Rescue Committee (a New York City based International Organization with field offices across the United States).

 

Gabe holds a BA in Communications and a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Baltimore. Currently he is pursuing an MBA under a Northrop Grumman Corporation Scholarship. Gabe has been recognized by his employers with awards and certifications of appreciation.
